Vox Populi’s Artists-in-Residence for August 2025

We’re thrilled to announce Vox Populi’s Artists-in-Residence for August 2025: Angel Cabrales (@angel_cabrales) and Rex Delafkaran (@rex_delafkaran)!

Both artists will be joining us in Philly for a month-long residency, culminating in a two-person exhibition opening this September 2025 in our galleries.

Angel Cabrales is a multimedia artist, educator, and head of Sculpture at UTEP. His work blends STEAM concepts, new tech, and political realities of the borderlands to create immersive, interactive art experiences. Cabrales brings an impressive record of international exhibitions and community-engaged artmaking—from Smithsonian collaborations to producing light-based festivals in New Mexico.

Rex Delafkaran is a Chicago-based interdisciplinary artist and dancer whose work explores the beautiful failures between bodies, objects, and language. Through sculpture, performance, and writing, she investigates queer and Iranian-American identities with tenderness and experimentation. Delafkaran has exhibited nationally and internationally, and is a recent recipient of a Warhol Foundation Wherewithal Research Grant.

Stay tuned for more about their work, their time at Vox, and their upcoming exhibition this fall!
