Vox Populi is seeking new voices and perspectives for our Board of Directors. Those who are committed to supporting independent community endeavors, the experimental work of early and mid-career artists in Philadelphia, and who want to provide meaningful connections for a small non-profit are encouraged to apply. We seek passionate individuals who are invested in working collaboratively, contributing to our fundraising efforts, providing oversight and governance for an alternative, non-hierarchical art space and growing our community of support. Additionally, new Board members should be aligned with our organization’s core values. Before considering applying, we encourage applicants to review our Values Statement.
Individuals with backgrounds in the following fields would be highly desirable additions to the Vox Populi Board of Directors:
Fundraising
Capital Campaign Management
Community Organizing
Strategic Plan Implementation
Grant Writing
Graphic Design
Real Estate
Corporate Sponsorships
Selected applicants would join professionals working in the fields of visual, performing and literary arts, community organizing, as well as fundraising, law, arts administration, business, and university-level art instruction.
Vox Populi is a member-run, non-profit artist space. A rotating collective of artist-members are the backbone of our organization. Our members seek to dismantle the traditional gallery model by pushing the boundaries of artistic practice and producing a wide and inclusive range of programming and events. Since 1988, Vox Populi has served as a critical nexus within the Philadelphia arts ecosystem, presenting exhibitions, public programs, and performances, while remaining responsive to the shifting needs of our community. Serving on Vox Populi’s Board of Directors offers an opportunity to help shape the future of one of Philadelphia’s longest-running artist-run spaces. Board members gain meaningful connections within the region’s arts and culture ecosystem, experience with collaborative governance, and the chance to support bold artistic experimentation in a deeply engaged community setting. This role provides hands-on leadership opportunities within a small but impactful nonprofit—ideal for individuals looking to deepen their involvement in cultural work, develop nonprofit experience, or champion artist-centered spaces.
As Vox Populi approaches its 40th anniversary in 2028, the organization is entering a pivotal period focused on long-term sustainability, resource building, and strategic growth. New board members will play a key role in strengthening the organization’s foundation as we move toward (and beyond) this milestone.
