Our Black Box Space can host your next anything!

Consider Vox Populi for: Community Meetings, Political Canvassing Launches, Workshops, Small Conferences, Lectures, Board Meetings, Graduation Parties, Birthday Parties, Commitment Ceremonies, Small Weddings, Event Receptions, Celebrations, Band performances, Dance Parties, Cabarets, Burlesque Shows, Drag Shows, Plays, Competitions, Fundraisers, Band Practice, Photoshoots, Video Recording, Book Signings, Pop-up Shops, Community Services Meet-ups.

Vox Populi offers low-cost rentals of our Black Box performance space (equipped with a PA, mixer, projector and various A/V equipment) for one-night or short-term events organized by non-affiliated organizations. Renters keep all ticket proceeds for public events!

All rentals include basic access to projection, sound, seating, and one staff member on site.

Additional staffing, ticketing, or bar services may incur extra fees (see below).

Rental Tiers

Vox Populi has implemented a Tiered Price scale for our rental costs. These rates are provided on a sliding scale. We aim to support artists, nonprofits, and cultural organizers who may have limited budgets while also asking those that do have the means to pay our full rate to do so as this helps keep our venue accessible and enables us to continue hosting the diversity of programming that we pride ourselves in offering. We aim to support community, experimental, and independent events while maintaining fair staffing and space costs.

All event promotion and marketing efforts are the sole responsibility of the event organizer. Any promotional support provided by the venue is offered as a courtesy and should not be considered the primary or sole marketing effort for the event.

Each tier requires a $50 non-refundable deposit to confirm a booking.

TIER 1

$150/hour (2 hour minimum)
Event Type: Large or institutional ticketed event

Ideal For
Ticketed events 7+ hours long
80+ attendees
Events requiring staffed door or Vox staffing support
Hosted by universities, institutions, or established organizations

Includes
Use of projector (main and auxiliary)
Full sound system
Folding chairs and tables
Two staff members

Extras
Additional staff (tech/door/bar): $25/hr each
Eventbrite hosting: 10% of ticket sales
If client runs their own bar: $200 concession fee

TIER 2

$100/hr (3 hour minimum)
Event Type: Small to medium event. Screenings or seated events

Ideal For
Events 5+ hours long
60+ attendees
Screenings, comedy, seated talks, or similar events
Organizers outside of Philadelphia or with moderate experience

Includes
Use of main projector
Full sound system
Folding chairs and tables
One staff member

Extras
Eventbrite hosting: 10% of ticket sales
Additional staff (tech/door/bar): $25/hr each

If client runs their own bar: $200

TIER 3

$50/hr (4 hours minimum)
25% of all ticket sales
Event Type: Fundraisers, community-based or artist-run events

Ideal For
Artists or collectives with low/no budget
Fundraisers for Vox-aligned organizations
Live music, performance art, parties, comedy nights
Creators earning income directly from ticket sales

Use of main projector
Full sound system
Folding chairs and tables
One staff member

  • For seated events, the capacity of our Black Box space is around 60-70. For standing events, the capacity of our Black Box space is around 90-100.
