Hungry Artist FOOD FILM FLUX is a horny, hunger-inducing film & dinner series. Each cinematic interculinary investigation centers an artist(s) work that compliments, enhances or contrasts the featured film.
Many of the artists featured in the Hungry Artist series were greatly influential to the fluxus movement or create work concerned with living matter, work that is experimental, collaborative, socio-economic and deals with the body, illness, purging, taste, memory and/or erasure. The fluxus movement sought to “purge the world of bourgeois sickness, intellectual professionals and commercialized culture. It sought to promote living art, anti-art, promote NON ART REALITY to be grasped by all peoples not just critics, dilettantes and professionals.”
In researching the histories of these artists and piecing together the sounds, infrastructure and deeply collaborative nature of the 60s and 70s, an is placed on the importance of community that comes from self activation. With so much expectation around spaces, events and ides to externally inspire, motivate and ground there is opportunity to be reminded of the importance of personal ingenuity and community founded in contributing as much of yourself to the space you inhabit as possible.
