Chrysalis returns to Vox Populi on October 2nd for our fall edition of dancefloor metamorphosis and mutation, and we’re turning up on a THURSDAY as we welcome Objekt as our special guest for the evening, alongside Philly underground queenpins Lady Prowl and Amylia.
Over the last decade and beyond, Berlin-based DJ and producer Objekt has cemented his place as a defining voice in contemporary dance music. With a wealth of technical wizardry up his sleeve, Objekt takes dancers on a careening adventure across genres from techno and electro to UK bass and leftfield club music, showcasing a flair for both precision and surprise. His productions, released on his own Kapsela label, and on experimental stalwart PAN, are sub-shaking technoid body music underpinned by a sharply cerebral approach to rhythmic construction and sound design.
Lady Prowl’s sets highlight her deep musical knowledge and mastery of her craft, honed through decades of participation in Philly’s underground scene as a DJ, producer, and raver. Unbound by genre Ladyprowl’s sets draw unexpected rhythmic connections across wide-ranging sounds from Detroit techno to dancehall, from dub to drum & bass. She’ll heat the Chrysalis dancefloor to simmering intensity and leave us primed for liquid transmutation.
Chrysalis cofounder and resident Amylia caps off the night, combining sleek and serpentine textures with hefty bass weight and propulsive momentum. Amylia’s signature dynamic, precisely-constructed and high-velocity sets take us on a wild ride through contemporary bass music, techno, and trance; soaring, skating and slicing across nocturnal space-time.

Come wiggle with us at Vox Populi from 9pm-2am on Thursday, October 2. Vox Populi will provide a bar of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for purchase. As always, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Emerging from the Philly dance music underground and organized by Amylia and DJ Papaya, Chrysalis is an occasional party series rooted in low-end metamorphosis, collective transformation and free-form raving.

Unwanted touching, violence, harassment, or leering will get you ejected from the party. Free water, Narcan, and first aid supplies are available onsite.
