ABOUT THE EVENT
These past few months, we’ve been swaddled within our silk cocoons, slowly fashioning shimmering wings from our softly glowing insectoid goo. Now, at the dawn of a new year, Chrysalis is ready to unveil its latest metamorphosis on the dancefloor for Philadelphia’s club underground. This sensual sub-bass journey will be helmed by NYC’s Escaflowne and our dear friend Yōsuke DJ, two of the East Coast’s finest multi-genre selectors, ready to take you on a high-octane drift across interdimensional space. The Chrysalis breaks open on Saturday, February 7, from 10pm-3am.
Our special guest for the evening is Escaflowne, an innovative electronic music producer and dj based in Brooklyn with roots in the Bay Area and Austin, renowned for his genre-defying approach. Seamlessly fusing elements of house, UK garage, techno, electro, jungle, and more, he's a true multi-genre virtuoso. As a dynamic DJ and performer, Escaflowne's sets take audiences on an exhilarating journey through the many diverse soundscapes of electronic music. His sets are a testament to his boundless creativity, seamlessly transitioning between tempos and moods, leaving dancefloors pulsating with energy and excitement.
Joining him will be one of the most dedicated and multifaceted talents of the Philadelphia electronic music underground, Yōsuke DJ. Yōsuke harnesses their deep knowledge and love for a wide spectrum of electronic music to craft sets full of range and flow, deftly dialed to the energy of the moment. They are also the mind behind some of Philadelphia’s most beloved DIY functions, including the legendary all-night free party Concrete and the new single-day festival Shelter, as well as the visuals wizard behind our favorite chill-out room, Spindrift.
Emerging from the Philly dance music underground and organized by Amylia and DJ Papaya, Chrysalis is an occasional party series rooted in collective transformation and free-form raving.
Tickets will be $20 advance, $25 at door. No one will be turned away for lack of funds; please reach out at chrysalis.philly@gmail.com if cost is a barrier. Vox Populi will provide water and a bar offering a variety of beverage options.
