Sarah Rose Smiley
Sarah Rose Smiley (she/they, aka Sadie) is a painter and photographer whose work explores embodiment, queer intimacy, disability, chronic illness, and self-relationship. Her practice centers tenderness, accessibility, and creating art that makes space for bodies and experiences often pushed to the margins. She is especially interested in how we learn to see and understand our bodies and relationships, and how art can offer new ways of relating to ourselves and one another.
Alongside her artistic practice, Sarah works as an eating disorder clinician. Her clinical work further informs her interest in body perception, self-relationship, and the complex experience of inhabiting a body. Across both practices, she is committed to making creative and therapeutic spaces more accessible, affirming, and responsive to disabled and queer communities.
