Rodnie King
Rodnie King is a Philadelphia-based multi-disciplinary artist that is a long time fixture in this city’s DIY scene. He has led experimental ensembles like Sour Spirit and OOLOI that employ the voice, various instruments and electronics to create unique sonic atmospheres. He takes inspiration from science fiction, comic books and dub/hip-hop/punk music to explore themes of shifting (s)language, glossolalia and catharsis. He uses techniques of layering, sampling and distortion to explore the ineffable by intentionally simulating confusion to eventually gratify with catharsis.
