Jean Wong
Jean Wong is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, print media, and textiles, and often in collaboration with the public. Her work examines critical energy and communications infrastructure; folk and food traditions; and the politics of migration. Jean is interested in how words, objects, and systems shape our mundane thoughts and automatic behaviors. She is guided by translation theory and material study and often uses humor in her work. She has exhibited in the United States and Southeast Asia at venues such as City Hall, Philadelphia, PA; 20*20 Gallery, Lansdowne, PA; Workhouse Arts Center, Lorton, VA; and The Art Book Fair, Singapore. She was a 2023 Leeway Foundation Art & Change grantee. Jean also works as a teaching artist in K-12 public schools in Philadelphia and New York City.
