jade chandler (they/she) is a queer Chinese American artist, educator, and community arts facilitator whose work explores identity, displacement, community, ancestry, and resistance through drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, zinemaking, critical cartography, installation, and written word. a transracial and transnational adoptee born in China and raised in the united states by a family that does not share their dna or ethnicity, questions of borders, belonging, family, and heritage remain central to their artistic practice.     

their personal work examines how identity is shaped by family separation, systemic displacement, forcible removal, and heritage erasure, while also celebrating the complex and resilient ways communities sculpt and nourish identity, kinship, and ancestral memory in resistance to systems of capitalism, imperialism, racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia. alongside their studio practice, jade creates community-centered art rooted in the belief that art is a collective tool and praxis that youth and elders have an ancestral right to wield. this work often takes the form of block and lino printing, screen printing, banner making, and youth organizing in collaboration with local communities and grassroots orgs.
