Long Shot is Vox Populi’s ongoing experimental comedy series spotlighting longer-form, in-progress performances that audiences don’t usually get to see. Each night features artists testing new ideas, structures, and characters in real time—messy, ambitious, and never-before-seen

ABOUT THE SHOW

Long Shot is a home for artists focused on experimental comedy featuring bold, never-before-seen longer-format performances.

In a collapsing landscape of inflatable barns and artificial snow, Glory West returns to mourn what she has lost, and what she may have created.

Part performance, part live taping, A Town Without Pity unfolds inside a synthetic Americana dream: a looping farm, a blizzard on command, a world where nature, memory, and morality have all been outsourced. Here, Glory delivers a fractured soliloquy for her dead husband, Dale, and the child she tore from her own body. She is recounting, revising, and replaying the story until it no longer holds.

As the snow falls endlessly and the set begins to betray its own construction, Glory moves between confession, spectacle, and delusion. She chases ghosts through a maze of nostalgia. Texas mythologies, maternal longing, and the promise of a “natural” life that never truly existed.

Drawing from horror, camp, and experimental comedy, this performance blurs the line between tragedy and absurdity. With grotesque prop work, multimedia interruptions, and moments of uncomfortable humor, A Town Without Pity asks: what happens when grief becomes performance, and performance becomes the only way to survive it?

This piece also functions as a live scene within Solis’s ongoing film project, expanding the world of Glory West into a space where audiences become witnesses, participants, and perhaps even accomplices.

As always, Long Shot is pay-what-you-can, with 100% of ticket proceeds going directly to the performers. Come see work in progress, take part if you want, and leave saying, “I can’t believe I just saw that.”
