And how it got them to study at Pratt Institute and get their degree in Graphic Design and Illustration!!! Showcasing paintings, sketch process, claywork, screenprinting so much more !!

I really want to show how far I've come to fulfill my dreams as a little black girl. Who always had her favorite doll in one hand and a sketchbook in the other. She was always creating no matter what her surroundings looked like. Art was and still is my escape to be myself, be raw and express what I'm feeling; it's my outlet ! At the age of 10 years old I was able to showcase and sell my artwork at community based art events. She was so shy and scared but she did it, even through fear and being uncomfortable.
Being the first gen in my family to pursue a higher education in the arts. Even though it was so scary, I'm so grateful for my support system! I've had a lot of challenges. Even through these challenges I keep looking forward no matter what ! I’m going to continue to press forward for that little girl who knows she was put on this earth to become something big !

This Pop-up Exhibition is a gift to myself to show how I'm growing as an artist and to put my art out into the world !
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Inside of the mind of a mixed media artist ! from creepy cute designs to the total opposite! Laforest uses a mixture of mediums like traditional and digital to create something new !! Their specialties are collage work, painting, textiles! Laforest has always been around art since they were a child. They started to take art seriously around middle and high school to accomplish getting into art school ! Art is their outlet and allows them to truly be and express themselves ! They have worked in digital & darkroom photography, screen printing, clay making, animation, oil painting, digital painting, watercolor, oil pastel, film making, 3D Form Sculpting, Textiles.
