“Evening of An Alter” Presented by Emmett Wilson
A Dance-theater Solo on Eggshells
Saturday December 5th, 7pm – 8pm
Doors Open: 6:30pm
TICKETS HERE
Come on over to the ‘Rodeo Biscuit Bar’ to wrangle with reality and witness 8 of Emmett’s alter egos figure out how to clean up some eggshells that were once in one basket. They’re everywhere now, and god-forbid we walk on them, but maybe Fawn will do a balletic pas-de-chat or Cowboy Waitress will swish her infinite hips à la Katherine Dunham’s technique to traverse them. The logic of this piece will unfold like the foil around a pat of butter in your veteran grandpa’s mess hall memories before don’t ask don’t tell was even established, not to mention those bans. Bits of that butter might melt on your mind and maybe you’ll wanna pitch your tent to camp, or simply cruise on the nearby sea of liturgy to cross over to another body of water through a sort-of-kind-of strait. Warning: every word will be played with during this one night stand of a dance. Enjoy.
About The Artist
Emmett Wilson dances with grief, humor, and heart; everything that grows and changes, inside and out. He makes solos and group performances that can be described as simmering operatic dance-theater stand-up-storytelling with a cup of camp, and a dash of drag. Emmett hails from Houston and is currently based in Philly, often venturing to NYC and Baltimore for performances and collaborations. Emmett is a Licensed Massage Therapist; his healing arts practice is called Dear Body Massage. He incorporates bodywork principles and dance techniques when teaching a workshop to help participants find and physicalize alter egos. Emmett has performed internationally in Berlin and Dublin, as well as nationally on and between every coast including the ‘third and fourth coasts’ of Houston and Chicago.
