As part of Black Box Presents: Arts in Action, Hot Bits Film Fest presents Pervert Futurism; a film screening and panel discussion exploring the overlooked utopian possibilities in communal/shared sexuality amidst trying times. Considering works that expand and bridge genres, enact sexual freedom as a political right, and inspire laughter; the film selection draws from our favorite films from the first several years of Hot Bits Film Festivals 2017-19. Our utopia is sexually inclusive, celebrates expansive desires, and unfettered creative perversion.
PANELISTS
Arleen Olshan is an 81-year-old Jewish, Butch, Lesbian Feminist, Leather Daddy, and cancer survivor. Arleen has been active in the LGBTQ+ and Feminist communities in Philadelphia for nearly 60 years. Her current work, Dead Dykes and Some Gay Men, focuses on celebrating LGBTQIA+ ancestors, primarily Philadelphians, who helped lay the foundation for LGBTQIA+ liberation in our city and beyond. arleenolshan.com
bashexo is a trans non-binary transdisciplinary installation|movement performance creative who blends race & queer theory w/African diasporic spiritual traditions & aesthetics. bashexo creates objects, immersive spaces, performances, and workshops. Ze is the co-founding member of unboundbodies art collective, a member of the hot bits collective, member of playchurch co-op, and co-founder of variable (n).
NEVE is an AfroIndigenous (Mahas Nubian, Chickasaw), multi-hyphenate performance artist, writer, punk, and disability justice activist. NEVE is a recipient of the Pina Bausch Fellowship for Dance and Choreography, the Disability Futures Fellowship, the Arc Artist Fellowship for Indigenous creators, the Art Matters Foundation’s Artist 2 Artist Award, and was recently the Access.Movement.Play Resident Artist at Movement Research. patreon.com/nevethoh

aAliy A. Muhammad is a poz writer born and raised in Philadelphia. In their work they often problematize medical surveillance, discuss the importance of bodily autonomy and center Blackness. aAliy is the creator of Black Reverence Chair, and a co-convener of Finding Ceremony.
About Hot Bits:
Hot Bits is a traveling queer porn film festival. Hot Bits is organized by a majority QTIBIPoC (queer, trans, intersex, Black, Indigenous, People of Color) collective who design/curate sex-positive experiences that centers QTIBIPoC self determined desire, joy, and pleasure. We operate under a DIT (do-it-together) ethos of care for ourselves, each other, and our communities. We seek to highlight underrepresented bodies as a means to celebrate anti-oppressive queer/trans porn tailored towards experiences, acts and stories often deemed marginal by mainstream society.
About Black Box Presents - Arts In Action
Made possible through lead support by the People’s Media Fund, Black Box Presents: Arts In Action is a yearlong screening and conversation series at Vox Populi exploring the role of the arts in movements for social change. Across four programs in 2026, community organizers will present films and media alongside facilitated dialogues on urgent issues including immigrant justice, queer liberation, health access, and community self-determination.
The series is presented in collaboration with community partners, Asian Americans United, SEAMAAC, Hot Bits, and Batikh Batikh, bringing together artists, organizers, and community members for shared learning and dialogue. By centering community-led storytelling as a catalyst for organizing, Arts in Action highlights how cultural spaces can strengthen networks, spark conversation, and help build collective power. The series will culminate in a community forum and a freely available arts-and-social-change toolkit sharing strategies and stories from the year.
