Suggs, through his performance and installation work, revisits events from the recent past and the ideas, gestures, fashions, and practices associated with their reception. He appropriates imagery, sound, and moving images to investigate how future generations draw on cultural artifacts through snippets, quotes, and scenes - continually reframing and creating new understandings of an undulating historical and contemporary cultural fabric.
Recent exhibition venues include Lump Gallery (Raleigh, NC), Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (Philadelphia, PA), X-Initiative (New York, NY), Repetti Gallery (Long Island City, NY), The Galleries at Moore (Philadelphia, PA), Fleisher/Ollman Gallery (Philadelphia, PA), ThreeWalls (Chicago, IL), Publico Gallery (Cincinnati, OH), and Vox Populi (Philadelphia, PA). Andrew currently lives and works in Philadelphia, where he is the Executive Director of Vox Populi, and an occasional writer and curator. He earned an AB cum laude from Harvard University.
