A native of Dallas, Texas, Bruce Campbell received his BFA in the fields of art history and ceramics from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2000. After three years apprenticing in the art of casting bronze sculpture at Green Mountain Studio, outside of Fort Worth, Texas, Bruce went on to earn a MFA in sculpture from the Massachusetts College of Art in 2005 before relocating to live and work in Philadelphia. His work has been exhibited in the Philadelphia area at Abington Art Center, Arcadia University, Rebekah Templeton Contemporary Art, and upcoming at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts and Vox Populi.
Nationally his work has been shown at the Arlington Museum of Art (Arlington, TX), Axiom Gallery (Boston, MA), and Gallery 414 (Ft. Worth, TX). Additionally, in 2005-06 his series of Newsprint Drawings were included in the show The Daily News, organized by the Salt Lake Art Center (Salt Lake, UT), which then traveled to the Nicolaysen Art Museum (Casper, WY) and the Boise Art Museum (Boise, ID). Upcoming national exhibitions include Answer Factory at The Luminary in St. Louis, MO.
In 2002 Bruce was awarded the Claire Hart DeGolyer Memorial Fund Award from the Dallas Museum of Art and during the Fall of 2005 he completed a three month residency at Art Farm in Marquette, Nebraska. Bruce is an adjunct faculty member at the Community College of Philadelphia and a member of the artist’s collective Vox Populi.
